Day 2 of moving.

Things are finally getting organized. But when I have nothing to do, I'm so bored. And I gave most of my books to my American friends back home. I guess I could talk to my dad.

A Voice: "Hope you listened to my story. Thank you so much for everything. I look forward to being neighbors from today onwards."

Papa: "Thank you as well for your warm welcome."

I can hear Papa talking to someone outside.
Michelle: "Papa Papa.....Are you free?"

Papa is talking to someone....mm. I wonder who that kid is.

Papa: "Ah, Michelle. What good timing. It's our neighbors the Jahanas. Go on, say hello."

Michelle: "Huh...ye...Oh...hi..."

Old Lady: "Oh! You look just like a pretty doll."

...Do they mean ...I'm like a doll? I suppose so? Hearing that makes me happy. If this old lady is our neighbor, it might not be so bad.

Papa: "The Jahanas are fishermen. It's their livelihood."

Michelle: "I see...so they fish and live off of it."

Is that boy a fisherman, too? But his haircut seems more like a monk.

Michelle: "Hi! You, the boy there. Ni....nice to... meet you? I'm... Michelle Kyan."

Boy: "....."

Michelle: "...?"

Did I mess up again...?

Old Lady: "Hey, Chata! Say hello to the young lady!"

Chata: "Oh...yes, yes auntie! Um...."

Chata: "I-it's the first time I've ever seen someone so beautiful and I was very nervous..."

Michelle: "What..."

Our eyes meet. I feel like the heat is rising on my face.

Chata: "N-nice to meet you! I'm Jahana Chata...glad to be neighbors with you!"

Michelle: "Y-yes...you, too."

Chata: "Uh.... uh... if you ever need help with anything, don't hesitate to let me know....!"

Michelle: "...Ok."

I hope I can become friends with this person. That's what I thought.

■ The Ocean and the Protagonist ■

|´・ω・) A few days after.

Michelle: "Sata. He...llo."

Chata: "Ahh!! Miss Miseru, hello!"

He called me 'Miseru' again...I guess if it's Sata I can forgive it.

Chata: "I got some fish again today?please have some."

Michelle: "Thank you so much Sata. Wow...it's interesting to see a live fish..."

Chata: "Yes. Isn't it beautiful?"

Michelle: "Yes. I think so. It's an interesting color. I, always, I only know the fish my mom has made before."

Ama-zing. But I don't think fish are so cute. Speaking of which, I wonder where and how Sata fishes. It seems it'd be hard to fish cause there's so much movement involved.

Michelle: "Look.. ah... um.... I... also... I also want to try fishing..."

Chata: "What?! You want to try?!"

Michelle: "...Yes."

Chata: "Alright! Then, then, why don't we go fishing now together?!"

Michelle: "Yeah, let's!"

 ━━━The Ocean

Chata: "Look! If you look closely, you can see the fish swimming, right?"

Michelle: "You're right. I never knew...Sata do you come here every day to fish?"

Chata: "Oh no, not every day. I only take what I will eat. If I take too much, the gods will be angry at me."

Michelle: "...so the gods here don't like people who are too greedy."

Chata: "Hahaha, yes."

Michelle: "Sata, Sata, how can this much water be so blue? Does it taste like blueberries? Is it from the blue color of the fish?"

Chata: "This is proof that the Nirai Kanai gods are protecting and watching over Okinawa."

[T/N: "Nirai Kanai" is "the mythical place from which all life originates" and home of the gods in the Ryukyuan religion.]

Michelle: "So the gods are making it blue?"

Chata: "Yes. As long as it is reflecting the blue sky in which the gods lives, it means we are protected by the gods and will live in peace. That's what my grandfather told me."

Michelle: "Really? How romantic. I can't swim, but I like this blue color."

Chata: "......I really think it's a beautiful color."

Chata: "...But it did turn red one time before."

Even though Sata was speaking about the beautiful color, his face looks so sad. I wonder what's wrong with Sata.

謝花茶太(Jahana Chata)

The shorn haired son of a fisherman. He has a too honest and gentle personality. He's a good old boy from the good old days. He's always concerned about our protagonist and can sometimes meddle too much, but he's too innocent, straight laced, and embarrassed to even try and hold hands.

I was debating whether to make him have a strong accent, but I decided to make him with shorn hair and have good manners with a polite way of speaking, and this is how he ended up! And his name seems like a delicious tea.

      Next up is Goya-san!
